NexSchools is Identity Management Day Champion Day. To address ever increasing cyber threats in K12 school segment, NexSchools is supporting the Identity Management Day 2021.
The COVID-19 pandemic has compelled K12 educational institutions to go on hybrid or remote learning models. The growing digital footprint has created an opportunity for malicious cyber actors to take advantage of the increased reliance of schools on digital tools.
The casual sharing habits particularly personal information, private details such as school name, location, photos of self and school mates have all added to the dangers of being victim to the cyber threats and dangers that can haunt in real life as well.
Safeguarding personal information and an identity-centric approach is essential to ensure a safe online environment for continuous virtual learning now and after COVID is behind us.
K12’s digital footprint will continue to grow and there is no stopping it. The school management, teachers and parents have a huge role to play in building safe online school centric culture.

Headlines of cyber crimes are inundating everyday. If you thought these are just the numbers, then you need to think these numbers can become names of your students; making headlines as victim. Time has come when we will have to leave the lecturing approach to experiential learning.
Including the cyber safety education beyond lectures and talks should be taken as serious 21st century skills; it should be a part of everyday learning in classrooms not a jargon in your brochure.
