Books - Our Friends

Hello there, welcome back to another blog! “ Books are just T.V for smart people.” In this blog you will get to know all about ‘em. So if you are reading a book by any chance, keep it aside for a minute and start reading!

The Start: Books have been in our lives since ancient times. They have been used for telling stories, writing archives and sharing information of our world. Books are believed to be originated a long, long, long time ago. Although there is no exact date of the invention of books, archeologists say they originated between 618 and 907 AD. One of the first ‘books’ were ancient scrolls, going back to the 4th millennium BCE. These were highly used by Egyptians. Then in the 1st century CE came the books more similar to our modern books. These were created by the Romans. These books had parchment paper and wooden covers.

Printing: As the popularity of books was increasing, the world turned into a more efficient way of making them… printing! Printing started in China, during the Tang Dynasty. The earliest printed book was the Diamond Sutra, created between the 2nd and 5th century CE. Then, during the 15th century, Johannes Gutenberg invented the very first printing press, in 1439 CE. The mechanical device printed books, newspapers and pamphlets. Then came the ‘sewing method’ of making books, and then came glue bound books. After the invention of phones, Ebooks made an appearance in 1971. This is the whole history of books and it goes a long way.

How they are important to us: Books are considered as our friends because they take us into a unique world of imagination. Books can be important to us in the following ways:

  1. Books make us intelligent: Books can improve our intellect and increase our knowledge. By reading books, we can get to know the cultures and civilizations across the globe. You can explore the past, present and future by reading books. They can also improve your creativity.
  2. Books improve memory: Reading books can help us to remember things and not forgetting them. When we read books, we create the character and stories mentioned in the book and it helps us to remember what the book was about.
  3. Books relieve stress: Books are the best remedy to relieve stress. When we read, we get pulled into a world of imagination and forget our troubles and we are filled with positive energy. This way, we forget our stress by reading books.
  4. Books improve vocabulary: When we read different types of books, we get to learn new words which will improve our vocabulary and raise awareness of the topic. If you don’t know the meaning of a word, you can always check the meaning in the dictionary.
  5. Books improve focus: When we relieve our stress while reading books, we automatically focus on the book. This can help students in academic performance and students will focus more on their studies.
  6. Books develop analytical skills: Books can improve our ability to think, and we will be able to find solutions to problems more easily. They can also raise awareness in different situations. Your confidence level will also increase by reading books.

“A book is a gift you can open again and again” said Garrison Keillor. I personally think that books are our best friends, especially in this pandemic. A room without books is like a body without a soul. I hope this blog inspires you to read more and more books.

Until we meet again … Sayonara!

Great! Precised information given . Consistency and dedication to something ( your reading and writing) will take you a lot farther in life than any form of education.

Its always a tendency of kids or school going boys and girls to spend their time in front of TV or on the social media. Its a habit which become addiction without the knowledge. Its always preferable to have a reading habit and books are the best companion, for this. Akshobhya has wisely listed the benefits of reading book along with the origination of printing .The blog is very though provoking and relevant to current scenario. All the best Akshobhya.
