Before I talk about my culture I want to introduce my country. India is my country. It ranks as the 7th largest country in the world as well as 2nd most populated country of the world. It is also known as Bharat and Hindustan. It is surrounded by oceans from three sides such as Bay of Bengal in east, Arabian sea in west and Indian ocean in south. Indian flag has three colours, saffron means purity (the uppermost colour), white means peace (the middle colour having Ashoka chakra), Green means fertility(the lowest colour). Ashoka chakra contains equally divided 24 spores. The national anthem of India is ‘Jana gana mana’, national song of India is ‘vande mataram’ .

Now I will introduce My  Indian culture. My Indian is known for its culture. There is diversity in Indian culture. India is a country where people speak many languages. People belong to different religions and casts. But live together. People of various religions like Buddhism, Jainism, Hinduism etc live here together from the ancient time. Different festivals are celebrated with great enthusiasm by everyone despite of caste and religion. Although India is a secular Hindu-majority country, it has large Muslim population.

Indian tradition has rich cultural values. In India, younger show great respect to their elders by touching their feet after waking up every day. This thing is practiced only in my India.

Worshipping animals like cow etc can be seen only in India.

Hindus say Namaste which means Hello. Muslim says Assalaam alekum   to the one they greet which means may God keep you in peace and healthy. Women fast for their husband on Karvachauth for their long life .In India, people feel great when any guest comes to their home. India believes in the concept of ‘Athiti devo bhava' which means' The Guest are considered equal to God’.

The variety in food culture is delicious and diverse. North Indian food includes Nan, Kulcha. Tandoor roti etc. South Indian food includes vada sambhar, upma, dosa etc. East Indian food includes sweet dishes like Sandesh, Roshogollas, sweet curd etc.

There is also diversity in the attire women wear sarees, salwar suit, navari sarees etc. Men wear dhotis, pathanis etc.

India is a land of Unity in Diversity as different groups of people co-operate with each other to live in a society. Unity in diversity has also become strength of India. I am proud that I am an Indian.
