Transition

Aaa Yesterday night I was returning to home from my friend’s house. The signal changed the colour to red. “STOP! SAYS THE RED…”.  I rem@embered my childhood poem. I was waiting for the signal to turn green so that I can start fast.  While waiting, I was looking around. A small girl was selling tricolour. My national flag…. our pride … and suddenly a teenaged boy passed by speedily …breaking the traffic rules…
I was watching the signal counter it was changing per second 72,71,70…. and I started comparing it with the years passed by …. Yes, we are celebrating 72 years of Independence.
It’s Independence Day …preparations and celebrations …everywhere.
But the one who was selling the flag is she really aware of the word? Is she really celebrating it?
The one who broke the signal, is he taking disadvantage of this freedom which he got by birth…?
My mind counter stared counting faster than the signal… what did we achieve during this independent journey?
We are the people of intendant country. For this independence our ancestors fought bravely. Are we really remembering them? Are we really taking care of this nation?
Definitely we have developed a lot through all aspects of technology, education, finance …but why it doesn’t reflect when we look around? Why our pride raises only on 15 August ,26th January, during Olympics, world cup matches or any national festival?
While teaching in school I always have feeling of “something is missing” it can be respect towards teachers, the eager towards learning. Whenever we announce any competition children asks “is it compulsory? Can we submit it tomorrow? Why Ma’am?”
Please think! if the same questions were asked by all those freedom fighters while fighting for freedom, whom we remember only during Independence Day or Republic day, is it would have been us enjoying this freedom?
Where is the spirit of togetherness?
Is too much of technology harming us… we are forgetting everything too fast, starting from relations to calculations, from remembering to writing, Are our thousands of years old traditions and cultural values are fading? Too much of wi-fi has really disconnected us from our small responsibilities. Are we becoming plastic…which will never degrade its bad habits?
I feel its everyone’s priority to change this by motivating self….by obeying traffic rules, taking care of nature, avoiding pollution …yes, we know everything, we have learnt everything in books but somewhere we are falling short while implementing it through our behaviour in our day to day life.
Suddenly I heard someone was honking very badly …. again, noise pollution …Ohh God! I woke up from my thoughts… the RED has turned to Green …
Time to move ahead …. think about small transition which you can bring … start from you. Let’s gear up and bring a transition together ….by planting and taking care trees to avoid pollution and floods, avoiding plastic for clean air, obeying traffic rule for ours as well as others safety, educating a child … showing respect, politeness towards everyone…and last but the most important always showing gratitude and remembering
