Early years in a lion’s life
Surviving itself is a mighty task for young lions. Recent study shows that only 1 out of 8 male lions survive their first year out in the wild.
Food, survival and beyond
Being on top of the food chain is not easy. Lions only have a 20 % kill chance per hunt .Most lions die in the first year. Adults can also die in conflicts and scarcity of food.
Social structure
Females do most of the hunting. Males are the most dominant of the pride .They defend the territory males eat first even though females hunt. They lead a social life.
My views
They are very majestic animals but their numbers are decreasing day by day, mainly because of human interference. They truly lead a royal life but they need to be protected. There are only 2000 lions in Africa and some Asian lions in the Gir forest. I hope this gave you an idea of their numbers.
