Ms. Aparna Nigam Saxena, Young Changemakers from the UK threw light on the targets, emphasised on how we use energy, not wasting the energy and conscious users as Keynote Speaker. She reiterated the need for energy access, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. More than 1.2 Billion people live without electricity in Sub-Sahara and South Asia and there is a huge gap between urban and rural areas. She drew attention to the need of development of more renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and hydro. She also brought to focus that achieving SDG7 is an easy way to achieve all the other SDG goals.

Ms. Aliaa Samaha from ?Hayah International Academy, Cairo, Egypt shared her school story of a sustainable community made up of a sustainable setting, sustainable student activity, and sustainable curriculum. Her story reflects the small changes any school can make a huge difference. In 2019, old lamps were replaced by LEDs all over campus in classrooms and offices cutting down energy consumption by 50% over 5 years and solar panels.

STEM for Sustainability Projects in which a student created a prototype of a vehicle that was run by a solar energy garage, he suggested being used by the busses which were parked in the hot Cairo sun. The students are also working on Project called The Mirror Lamp on energy-efficient lamps for underprivileged communities.

Ms. Chitra Sehgal from Genesis Global School, India showcased the fantastic art gallery from different schools. The artwork was a reflection of little children’s minds bubbling with ideas on how they want to see the future.

Ms. Naureen Sarwar from Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Tulamba, Punjab, Pakistan is located in the fort built by Sher Shah Suri in the 15th century at the rural area of the eastern edge of the Ravi River. The school came into being in 1907 as primary school and now, it’s offering services as Higher Secondary School. The school recognized the pollution in the area due to burning woods for household fuel causing air pollution. As the school located in a rural area, we have a huge quantity of animal manure, poultry waste, kitchen waste, and fruit residues.

The students planned to use all the waste as raw material to make biogas so that they can get affordable and clean energy for heat and cooking purposes. The school is doing innovative work utilizing Agri waste such as poultry waste, household waste, etc. by solving local problems.  The school has future plans to work on student entrepreneurship and solar energy plants.

Ms. Preeti Phutela from Venkateshwar Global School, India ?threw light on the education for sustainability through international collaborative projects, resource depletion model, and mega event. The children were sensitised about Africa and the 1Bilion people who still do not have electricity through interaction with Nigerian children. The student participated in a historic mega global event to assemble their own solar study lamps and learned non-violence towards the environment. The school created the Guinness Book Of World Record for lighting self-made solar study lamps as part of the Global Student Solar Assembly at IGI stadium at New Delhi.
