Focus now is shifting towards improving access to clean and safe cooking fuels and technologies, to expand renewable energy to as many sectors and uses as possible.

RiseUp4SDGs has now become WE #RiseUp4SDGs with the accomplishment of very successful 7th episode Affordable And Clean Energy.
There is always something new to look forward to along with the infectious energy of veteran educator Paramjeet Kaur Dhillon who initiated this international project, the august gathering of educators from around the world and stories of impact from school.
This episode was made even more special with the presence of special guest KY Teijas from Wakelet, who addressed the educators and appreciated the work collated on Wakelet platform. He mentioned the RiseUp4SDGs collection as one of the inspiring piece of work; he praised the time and effort each participant has taken to build this collaborative collection.
Ms. Beena Koirala from Gaindakot English School, Nepal opened the floor for a panel discussion with her chirpy voice and welcomed the audience.
Ms. Aparna Nigam Saxena, Young Changemakers from the UK threw light on the targets, emphasised on how we use energy, not wasting the energy and conscious users as Keynote Speaker. She reiterated the need for energy access, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. More than 1.2 Billion people live without electricity in Sub-Sahara and South Asia and there is a huge gap between urban and rural areas. She drew attention to the need of development of more renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and hydro. She also brought to focus that achieving SDG7 is an easy way to achieve all the other SDG goals.
Ms. Aliaa Samaha from ?Hayah International Academy, Cairo, Egypt shared her school story of a sustainable community made up of a sustainable setting, sustainable student activity, and sustainable curriculum. Her story reflects the small changes any school can make a huge difference. In 2019, old lamps were replaced by LEDs all over campus in classrooms and offices cutting down energy consumption by 50% over 5 years and solar panels.
STEM for Sustainability Projects in which a student created a prototype of a vehicle that was run by a solar energy garage, he suggested being used by the busses which were parked in the hot Cairo sun. The students are also working on Project called The Mirror Lamp on energy-efficient lamps for underprivileged communities.
The Hayah International Academy has a full-fledged curriculum for Greening STEM to solve social, environmental, and economic problems. A lot of initiatives for a greener future.
The virtual newsletter was presented by Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, Kamla Nehru Public School, Phagwara, Punjab, India promoting SDG7 which was divided into four sections. The editorial was penned down by Paramjeet Kaur Dhillon. The first section comprised artwork and digital posters promoting clean and green energy. Creative writing workshop in the form of write-ups, poems educators' photo stand section – green and clean atmosphere very important to live a peaceful and healthy life.
Mr. Bryant Bennet D. Atencia a Teacher & Podcaster from the Philippines, showcased the exemplary work for effective waste management, waste prevention, minimization, and treatment. The solutions for converting household waste into renewable energy, the waste are converted to detergent or laundry soap, the automated solar lamp, and street lights and simple things like a bottle with some material to light up the homes in Manila amazed each one present.
Ms. Chitra Sehgal from Genesis Global School, India showcased the fantastic art gallery from different schools. The amazingly creative work by all students didn’t just win the hearts were equally thought-provoking in how we use and can save energy. The artwork was a reflection of little children’s minds bubbling with ideas on how they want to see the future.
Ms. Naureen Sarwar from Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Tulamba, Punjab, Pakistan is located in the fort built by Sher Shah Suri in the 15th century at the rural area of the eastern edge of the Ravi River. The school came into being in 1907 as primary school and now, it’s offering services as Higher Secondary School. The school recognized the pollution in the area due to burning woods for household fuel causing air pollution. As the school located in a rural area, we have a huge quantity of animal manure, poultry waste, kitchen waste, and fruit residues.
The students planned to use all the waste as raw material to make biogas so that they can get affordable and clean energy for heat and cooking purposes. The school is doing innovative work utilizing Agri waste such as poultry waste, household waste, etc. by solving local problems. The school has future plans to work on student entrepreneurship and solar energy plants.
Ms. Preeti Phutela from Venkateshwar Global School, India ?threw light on the education for sustainability through international collaborative projects, resource depletion model, and mega event. The children were sensitised about Africa and the 1Bilion people who still do not have electricity through interaction with Nigerian children. The student participated in a historic mega global event to assemble their own solar study lamps and learned non-violence towards the environment. The school created the Guinness Book Of World Record for lighting self-made solar study lamps as part of the Global Student Solar Assembly at IGI stadium at New Delhi.
