Today I will talk about the addiction to smart phones. I decided to write a blog on this topic because many people are addicted to smart phones and other screens like television.
Most children have a screen in front of them all the time. Also, the adults have their noses in the screen all the time! They are the ones who tell the children to stop looking at screens. But when the child puts it away, the parent starts to look at it. I think that, if you ask the child to put the screen away, you should put it away too!! Sometimes adults don’t follow their own rules.
I have heard that if you tell your friends that “ I don’t have a smart phone at home”, they just start laughing, as if it was a big joke. Believe me, it has happened with me. When I told my friend, that I do not have a television at home, he was off telling anyone who would listen, that I am weird. People think that screens are our life. If they did not have a television they would go mad. My maternal uncle said, that when there were no televisions, he used to go out and play with his friends until it was dark. He also said that, children nowadays are not able to imagine life without television and smart phones.
There are a lot of people like my uncle who love those old days. Even I think that life was good, in the olden days. But, there are also people who prefer life with smart phones and televisions. I have heard that 40% of the people are addicted to smart phones. Some people cannot survive without smart phones even for a day and check their phones without any reason. Some people even take their smart phones to the washrooms. What if it falls in the sink or the commode?
I would also like to give you some advantages and disadvantages of using a screen. They are :
If you are bored you can watch a television programme or movie of your choice.
You can get a lot of information grom the internet and play brainy games.
You can stay connected with your loved ones anywhere around the world.
When children watch screen for a long time, they are difficult to control and sometimes get angry and hyper.
Eyes and health can get spoiled from watching the screen for a long time.
Their attention towards studies reduces, and they may become obese sitting in one place.
So, I would like to suggest both, parents and children to watch screens for a limited time. The screen time should be of minimum one hour and maximum three hours.
